Visiting the Triton Submarines on the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show (FLIBS)

The FLIBS boat show – Fort Lauderdale Boat Show 2015 took place in Florida, USA from 5 to 9 November. It was a big event which took up the area of 279 000 square meters and included 6 different expo-grounds. All exhibits were located either in the expo center, in the large covered pavilions or in one of the marines, which could be accessed by the water taxi, slowly cruising among all expo-grounds.

Boats in Lauderdale are not just the show exhibits; they are an important part of everyday city life. The yacht or a speedboat parked in front of the house, not an exotic thing for Lauderdale it is the norm.

However the exhibition is a chance to present all the beauty of the contemporary shipbuilding, and therefore every large company was present: Azimut, Princess, Sunseeker, Ferretti, Fairline, Pershing, Riva; Bavaria, Beneteau, Cranchi, Fjord, Fountaine Pajot, Jeanneau, Prestige и даже Abeking & Rasmussen, Amels, Benetti, Feadhip, Heesen, ISA, Lurssen, Mangusta, Oceanco, Palmer Johnson, Perini Navi, Sanlorenzo.

The subjective choice was to attend the expo-ground of Triton Subs, our friends and unique partners. U-Boat uses submarine constructed by this company for underwater research.

There was no real sub on the stage this year. Bruce Jones, General Director of the company, commented about it: “There is no need for it; we prefer to do the try dives for our guests and clients for example on Bahamas, and other beautiful places, which have lots of underwater sights.” Therefore the stage was taken by the model of yellow submersible, the most recognized product of the company. Large bronze octopus serves as a pedestal for the model; it is one of the outstanding creations of Kirk McGuire – renowned sculptor from San Francisco.

The important fact is that exhibition gathered almost everyone from the Triton Team together in one place: General Director Bruce Jones and the Company President Patrick Lahey, specialists – Jim Harris, Troy Engen, Kelvin Magee and Kirk McGeorge. All of them are high-class professionals with years of experience in diving. The collective work experience of the team in the sphere of private submersibles and underwater machines is more than 350 years!
